ܘܦ̈ܠܫܬܝܐ ܕܒܪܘ ܩܒܘܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܘܐܝܬܝܘܗ̇ ܡܢ ܟܐܦܐ ܕܥܘܕܪܢܐ ܠܐܫܕܘܕ
l'shdwd dewdrn' k'p' mn w'ythywh d'lh' qbwthh dbrw wplshthy'
Now the Philistines had taken God’s ark, and they brought it from Ebenezer to Ashdod.

ܘܕܒܪܘ ܦܠܫ̈ܬܝܐ ܠܩܒܘܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܘܐܝܬܝܘܗ̇ ܠܒܝܬ ܕܓܘܢ ܘܐܩܝܡܘܗ̇ ܥܠ ܓܢܒ ܕܓܘܢ
dgwn gnb el w'qymwh dgwn lbyth w'ythywh d'lh' lqbwthh plshthy' wdbrw
The Philistines took God’s ark, and brought it into the house of Dagon and set it by Dagon.

ܘܩܕܡܘ ܐܫ̈ܕܘܕܝܐ ܠܝܘܡܐ ܕܒܬܪܗ ܘܐܫܟܚܘܗܝ ܠܕܓܘܢ ܟܕ ܪܡܐ ܥܠ ܐ̈ܦܘܗܝ ܥܠ ܐܪܥܐ ܩܕܡ ܩܒܘܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܘܢܣܒܘܗܝ ܠܕܓܘܢ ܘܐܬܩܢܘܗܝ ܥܠ ܕܘܟܬܗ
dwkthh el w'thqnwhy ldgwn wnsbwhy d'lh' qbwthh qdm 're' el 'pwhy el rm' kd ldgwn w'shkkhwhy dbthrh lywm' 'shdwdy' wqdmw
When the people of Ashdod arose early on the next day, behold, Dagon had fallen on his face to the ground before Yahweh’s ark. They took Dagon and set him in his place again.

ܘܩܕܡܘ ܒܨܦܪܐ ܠܝܘܡܐ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܘܗܐ ܕܓܘܢ ܪܡܐ ܥܠ ܐ̈ܦܘܗܝ ܥܠ ܐܪܥܐ ܩܕܡ ܩܒܘܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܪܝܫܗ ܕܕܓܘܢ ܘܬܪ̈ܬܝܗܝܢ ܦܣ̈ܐ ܕܐ̈ܝܕܘܗܝ ܦܣܝ̈ܩܢ ܥܠ ܐܣܟܘܦܬܐ ܕܬܪܥܐ ܘܓܘܫܡܗ ܕܕܓܘܢ ܐܫܬܚܪ
'shthkhr ddgwn wgwshmh dthre' 'skwpth' el psyqn d'ydwhy ps' wthrthyhyn ddgwn wryshh dmry' qbwthh qdm 're' el 'pwhy el rm' dgwn wh' 'khrn' lywm' btspr' wqdmw
When they arose early on the following morning, behold, Dagon had fallen on his face to the ground before Yahweh’s ark; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off on the threshold. Only Dagon’s torso was intact.

ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܠܐ ܕܪܟܝܢ ܟܘܡܪ̈ܐ ܕܕܓܘܢ ܘܟܠ ܕܥܐܠܝܢ ܥܠ ܐܣܟܘܦܬܐ ܕܕܓܘܢ ܒܐܫܕܘܕ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܝܘܡܢܐ
lywmn' edm' b'shdwd ddgwn 'skwpth' el de'lyn wkl ddgwn kwmr' drkyn l' hn' mTl
Therefore neither the priests of Dagon nor any who come into Dagon’s house step on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod to this day.

ܘܥܫܢܬ ܐܝܕܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܥܠ ܐ̈ܫܕܘܕܝܐ ܘܚܪܒ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܡܚܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܒܛܚܘܪ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܠܐܫܕܘܕ ܘܠܬܚ̈ܘܡܝܗ
wlthkhwmyh l'shdwd bTkhwryhwn 'nwn wmkh' 'nwn wkhrb 'shdwdy' el dmry' 'ydh weshnth
But Yahweh’s hand was heavy on the people of Ashdod, and he destroyed them and struck them with tumors, even Ashdod and its borders.

ܘܚܙܘ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܫܕܘܕ ܕܗܟܢܐ ܗܘܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܠܐ ܬܬܒ ܩܒܘܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܥܡܢ ܡܛܠ ܕܥܫܢܬ ܐܝܕܗ ܥܠܝܢ ܘܥܠ ܕܓܘܢ ܐܠܗܢ
'lhn dgwn wel elyn 'ydh deshnth mTl emn d'ysryl 'lh' dmry' qbwthh ththb l' w'mrw 'nwn hw' dhkn' 'shdwd bny wkhzw
When the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said, “The ark of the God of Israel shall not stay with us, for his hand is severe on us and on Dagon our god.”

ܘܫܕܪܘ ܘܟܢܫܘ ܠܟܠܗܘܢ ܛܪ̈ܘܢܐ ܕܦܠܫ̈ܬܝܐ ܠܘܬܗܘܢ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܡܢܐ ܢܥܒܕ ܠܩܒܘܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܠܓܬ ܬܗܦܘܟ ܩܒܘܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܐܗܦܟܘܗ̇ ܠܩܒܘܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ
d'ysryl 'lh' dmry' lqbwthh w'hpkwh d'ysryl 'lh' dmry' qbwthh thhpwk lgth w'mrw d'ysryl 'lh' dmry' lqbwthh nebd mn' w'mrw lwthhwn dplshthy' Trwn' lklhwn wknshw wshdrw
They sent therefore and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and said, “What shall we do with the ark of the God of Israel?” They answered, “Let the ark of the God of Israel be carried over to Gath.” They carried the ark of the God of Israel there.

ܘܡܢ ܒܬܪ ܕܐܗܦܟܘܗ̇ ܗܘܬ ܐܝܕܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܒܩܪܝܬܐ ܡܚܘܬܐ ܕܪܒܐ ܛܒ ܘܡܚܐ ܠܐܢܫ̈ܝܗ ܕܩܪܝܬܐ ܡܢ ܙܥܘܪܐ ܘܥܕܡܐ ܠܪܒܐ ܘܐܣܬܬܪܘ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܛܚܘܪ̈ܝܗܘܢ
Tkhwryhwn elyhwn w'sththrw lrb' wedm' zewr' mn dqryth' l'nshyh wmkh' Tb drb' mkhwth' bqryth' dmry' 'ydh hwth d'hpkwh bthr wmn
It was so, that after they had carried it there, Yahweh’s hand was against the city with a very great confusion; and he struck the men of the city, both small and great, so that tumors broke out on them.

ܘܫܕܪܘܗ ܠܩܒܘܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܠܥܩܪܘܢ ܘܐܝܠܠܘ ܥܩܪ̈ܘܢܝܐ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܐܗܦܟܘ ܥܠܝܢ ܩܒܘܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܕܬܩܛܠܢ ܠܢ ܘܠܥܡܢ

So they sent God’s ark to Ekron. As God’s ark came to Ekron, the Ekronites cried out, saying, “They have brought the ark of the God of Israel here to us, to kill us and our people.”

ܘܫܕܪܘ ܘܟܢܫܘ ܠܟܠܗܘܢ ܛܪ̈ܘܢܐ ܕܦܠܫ̈ܬܝܐ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܫܕܪܘܗ̇ ܠܩܒܘܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܬܗܦܘܟ ܠܕܘܟܬܗ̇ ܕܠܐ ܬܩܛܠܢ ܠܢ ܘܠܥܡܢ ܡܛܠ ܕܗܘܬ ܫܓܝܫܬܐ ܕܡܘܬܐ ܒܟܠܗ̇ ܩܪܝܬܐ ܘܥܫܢܬ ܛܒ ܐܝܕܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܬܡܢ

They sent therefore and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and they said, “Send the ark of the God of Israel away, and let it go again to its own place, that it not kill us and our people.” For there was a deadly panic throughout all the city. The hand of God was very heavy there.
